Love Allience Programme Cross – Sectionality Workshop

Twenty-One Love Alliance partners from Southern Africa including INERELA+ gathered at Birchwood hotel to attend a cross-sectionality workshop from 30th June to 1 July 2025. Love Alliance is a partnership to build a unifying, strong pan-African movement that promotes access to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for people most marginalized and affected by HIV – including sex workers, people who use drugs, people living with HIV, adolescents and young people within communities.

The cross-sectionality workshop equipped participants with the necessary tools to drive meaningful change through intersectional program design, transformational expertise and the link to inclusion and transformation. Participants gained new tools to advocate more intentionally, inclusively, and collaboratively. Additionally, participants gained insights on inclusivity, collaboration, and empowerment with a commitment to amplifying the voices of the marginalized, shifting power dynamics, and fostering robust partnerships. It was highlighted that true change begins at the intersections—where voices meet, power shifts, partnerships grow and transformative solutions that leave no one behind are championed.

INERELA+ has embraced comprehensive strategies rooted in intersectional approaches such as gender transformative programming and working with men and boys for gender equality. Our approach to engaging men and boys is rooted in intersectional understandings of gender, race, class, and other identities that influence experiences of GBV.
