Capacity building and training activities plays a crucial role in the work of INERELA+, they enable the organisation to provide and develop competencies and skills of our members.  From the 29th to the 31st of `July 2022 INERELA+ Sierra Leone conducted capacity building activities for 40 Religious Leaders at the Madam Wokie Hall. The Training aimed at providing Religious will skills and knowledge on how to contribute to the reduction of gender based violence (GBV), and female genital mutilation (FGM), in addition, Religious Leaders were equipped on Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR), and HIV/ AIDS and COVID 19 prevention. The sessions were facilitated by the INERELA+ Sierra Leona Coordinator Rev. Albert Freeman and Pastor Kadija Kargbo, the facilitators took participants through in-depth learning sessions on the topics.

Sierra Leone has one of the highest rate of GBV and FMG in the world, Many adolescents in the country lack the information and resources to make informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health rights. Because of their influential position in communities religious leaders are in a unique position to create a more awareness around the issues of SRHR, GBV, FMG and educating the communities about HIV and Covid-19.
